PLANNING REFERENCE: 17/03433/FUL - Demolition of existing office building and development of 75 apartments - 33 Pinkhill, Edinburgh EH12 7BF
Mr Kerr has written to a number of Community Councils to make them aware of the above planning application which is currently being considered by CEC Planning Department. Its impact will result in a range of issues for local residents including privacy and overlooking, parking and traffic congestion, increased risk of accidents, pressure on local services and a significant influx of new residents and cars into a very small and condensed gap site of a former office building.
Mr Kerr states that while this is outwith other Community Council Ward/ Boundaries, his concerns are that the proposed height of the building (SIX STOREYS) in the view of many local residents will create a precedent which could result in six storey building proposals springing up all across our beautiful city. To hisknowledge there are no recent private residential building proposals in any suburban areas which exceed three/ four storeys. He says that both Murrayfield Community Council and Corstorphine Community Council have lodged objections indicating that three storeys would be more appropriate for the area.
While the window for submitting objections has now closed (there were 147 objections lodged in total) but he would be most grateful if the matter could be tabled for discussion at your next Community Council. He would be more than happy to attend if that is deemed to be helpful. However, if your Community Council have similar concerns about this proposal and the potential city-wide consequences of a rising skyline then I would appreciate if you could write to / email all the Councillors within your Ward/ Boundary and also Planning Department to voice your concerns. Mr Kerr strongly believes that this is very much a case where there needs to be joined-up thinking across our beautiful capital city which is why he is writing to all Community Councils across Edinburgh.
